(CNN) - gas prices have jumped nearly 20 cents during the past two weeks, approaching the record, according to a survey published Sunday.
The average price of a gallon of self-service regular is $3.76, the Lundberg Survey. The previous survey three weeks ago revealed an average of $3.57.
That prices are now simply 35 cents-"fire"-on the record high of $4.11 in July 2008, said editor Trilby Lundberg. "."
"This does not mean that we will have it", she said. "Crude oil will decide."
Crude oil prices have been affected by the unrest in the Middle East, also said it, but by the two main underlying factors: increased demand in developing countries and the weakness of the dollar.
"Unless that crude oil yield and slides, we can expect a further increase to pump because prices at the pump reflect not all crude oil price increases that have occurred""," Lundberg said.
