New York (CNN) - a 10 year old boy escaped from the window of a minivan sinking after her mother drove the vehicle with him three other children in the Hudson River, some 60 miles north of the city of New Yorkauthorities said.

Lashaun Armstrong swam to shore Tuesday evening and was taken up by a passing and inclined to a Firehouse near Newburgh, New York, said fire chief Michael Vatter.

Soaking wet and suffering from a mild case of hypothermia, Armstrong said then responsible for fire that his mother had driven the vehicle in the River.

Police discovered divers later the bodies of Lashanda Armstrong, 25, an 11-month-old girl, a 2-year-old boy and a 5 year old boy some 25 yards off the coast.

A police incident investigation suggests that the mother intentionally leads the vehicle in water, according to the Chief of the Newburgh Police Michael Ferrara.

Stakeholders, using a circular helicopter, and dive teams found the van after the disorder research hours submerged in eight feet of water, according to Vatter.

Before the incident, a parent called reports an "internal disorder" police that police say may have involved Armstrong husband, Jean Pierre.

That belief is based on a call phone relative received in which they said have heard "shots in the background," noting a history of internal problems, the police said in a statement Wednesday.

Police refused to identify the parent.

An autopsy on the bodies of four is scheduled for Wednesday.

Mayor of Newburgh Nicholas Valentine said that the incident is certain to have a sustainable effect on this city.

A resident of the city and neighbor Christine Santos, stated that she "would have never imagined (Lashanda), to do this to her children."

"The baby little.". I could never imagine. "I am in shock", she added.

Other neighbors described his surviving son, Lashaun, as Manager.

"It was the type of kid who was responsible for its small," said the resident Carmen Davila.

But the traumatic effects of the incident on Tuesday could have effects on the boy's long term, analysts say.

"It was this traumatic event and loss, and that can manifest itself in many ways," said Dr. Louis Baptista, Director of Clinical Services of child psychiatry at Columbia University.

He warned of "aggressive behaviour, by violence, through depression, through symptoms depression and can be very serious and very intrusive to a child of his age.".CNN Deb Feyerick and Sheila Steffen contributed to this report
