(CNN) - Police in Santa Monica, California, were looking for an "extremely dangerous" 61-year-old man in connection with a bombing of a synagogue.
The authorities began their investigation after the explosion Thursday at the Habad House.
Investigators showed the damaged synagogue which can prove that the attack is connected to a "transitional" which had been seen in the area, the Santa Monica police said in a statement.
"Investigation has determined that the objects found in and around the mechanism are linked to an individual by the name of Ron Hirsch, identified as a transient," said the statement. "Hirsch is known for frequent synagogues and Jewish community centres seeking charity of clients." Hirsch is considered extremely dangerous. ?
The blast shook windows in the synagogue and sent a pipe of 30 books in the roof of a nearby House, but no there were no injuries, CNN affiliated KABC reported.
The authorities do not know the reason for the attack. Hirsch also faces charges of possession of a device destructive, said police.Rosalina Nieves of CNN have contributed to this report.
